Billion dollar whale

Another hot KL night

And nothing base here

but the occasional alto bike

And soprano chit-chat

of the distant jungle.

On the morrow

A court will raise the morning box lid

From its hinges

And swarming mosquitoes

Will take to the famished air

And suck each other’s blood,

colliding like cockroaches

In a small corner of the world.

“when we’re bad

We’re very bad, lah

But when we’re good.....”

The kleptocrat stands trial

To clear his name.

The lawyer makes his case.

You gave yourself gifts

Made in Manhattan

Mansions in LA.

You had your Picasso of artists

Monet in your pocket

And a wolf on Wall Street.

Now your thoughts

Lie behind bars

Padlocked in fear.

And we thrill to the grill.

The sun ain’t gonna shine anymore

Stop the birds from singing today

Scott Walker has passed away

Bring me the bottle to dull my eyes

Tell the newsreader it’s lies just lies.

I know of your love for songwriter Brel

Who wrote of dogs and devils from hell

And wrote of funerals, death and going away

But I never thought you’d go today.

You sang of Madeleine and Fat Marie

A grandmama dressed like a Christmas tree

Two ragged soldiers who’d gone too far

And a butterfly lost like a star.

Scott Walker, for me, come what may

Your songs will kiss away the darkest day

Your cold blue fire will ignite the sky

As you sing your final rhymes of goodbye.

Theresa May

Not just a woman

She’s a god-like sensei

Sent down from heaven to lead us

Observe her contempt

For MPs’ dissent

Which shows that she really does heed us

Am I speaking of the Virgin?

Am I speaking of Lana Del Rey?

No! Theresa May.

Amazon warrior in animal prints

We scurry like skunks just to succour

We love her, exalt her, for all our sins

There’s no way we’d ever chuck her.

Do I speak of Maggie Thatcher?

Is she the Queen of all the UK?

No! Theresa May!

Dancer, prancer, a keynote orator

She intones her words like a don

Her rewards are troll tweets

And Hammond’s cough sweets

Though they’re not ‘or everyon’.

Do I speak of the Madonna?

Am I talking of the great Doris Day?

No! Theresa May.

Frauen aller Länder vereinigt Euch! ♀

Meet Sophie the sophist
Who loves to wear long eye lashes.
She's a glutton for punishment.
Then there's Jodie,
A train driver.
She says men have one track minds.
What about Marilyn?
The jockey who likes a ride.
No dead heats for her.
Meet Señorita Silva
The gold digger.
She thinks size matters, especially for wallets.
Of course Ms Primrose Propper
Would disapprove of the above
Imploring 'get your own metal detector!'
Have you met Miss Jones?
She's an actress
But says she's an actor as she sashays down
The red carpet, décolleté, high-heeled.
What about  Alsayida Aisha?
She's wearing her abaya, niqāb and gloves
But underneath it's Fleur du Mal, Coco de Mer

And Dior where the sun don't shine.
Finally, what of Bernadette?Queen of the billabong.
Saving up for the op – is that wrong?
So what can we say of the above today?
They are all women in every way.
All feminists through and through.
Me too!

Brexitum ad infinitum

Oh, will it neverendum

This son of referendum

Unfurling discontentum

‘Cross Party Conservatorium

-  So lacking in disciplinarian

And good old-fashioned decorum?

Can’t someone please just send ‘em

To the EU’s viginti Septem

To get an agreed addendum,

Expunge each corrigendum

And make a new tenendum,

Not to mention definiendum,

To end this irksome conundrum

That’s caused such great opprobrium

And large intakes of (inter alia) opium,

And create a new agendum

That all can fain credendum,

And bring a pleasing endum

To this Brexit pandaemonium?
