Pencil Poke, No Joke

Trump plays pathetic playground politics,
depicts Adam Schiff with a pencil neck.
These pretty poor tricks,
an abuse of his position,
calling names, sick power games,
profiting from insults, claims
twenty eight dollars each, to purchase,
in the presidential election race,
T shirts printed with Adam Schiff’s face,
a pencil neck and a clown’s red nose.
Even for you, this goes pretty low, shows
who’s really the clown round here. It’s quite clear.

‘The smallest, thinnest neck I have ever seen.’
Like, what the heck does that even mean?
You don’t know how to use a pencil, do ya?
Mean like a redneck, rough neck bully boy,
brass neck chancer.
You got some neck on ya, Mr President.
Apparently, ‘He is not a long ball hitter.’
Better by a long shot than being a bullshitter,
pussy grabber, petty presumptuous fool.
Donald Trump, it’s just not cool.

This One’s A Bit Edgy

This One’s A Bit Edgy

We have farmers to thank for our overbite,
the change in our jaw alignment.
If it wasn’t for farmers we wouldn’t say ‘farmers’
or fuck—all those labiodental consonants.
The loss of our edge-to-edge bite gave us the edge
to get edgy with words, like fuck, and fornicate, and vagina.
Blame farmers for soft food diets, fundamentally fucking with biology,
a cultural shift, that shifted our jaws, that led to a cultural shift,
the diversification of language.
So thank you farmers for giving a fuck.
We’ve been fucking ever since.

Wealth Creators

the money man stands
to make it minted
shafting those who graft for him
still skint and claiming benefits
to pay the rent
aching bones and broken homes
are not sufficient sacrifice
for now he beams with hand outstretched
to those whose torture
raised his fortune
buy back what you made he says
at twice the price

the money man stands
to make a killing
sweat shop hell holes
selling souls
as workers feud
between themselves
this modern form of feudalism
‘free market’ capitalism
really fundamentalism
steals our freedom
all encompassed exploitation
slaves to market
mark up margins
profits bulging
built on breaking backs
while others fall
between the cracks

the money man stands
to make a profit
as he passes goods from hand to hand
then makes demands
drives down the price
and takes his slice
why should we not sack this guy?
he bleeds us dry
unending greed
bureaucracy
chain of command
this blatant cashing in on artisans
his plan
to gatecrash our endeavours
will the real
creators please stand?
time to sever
upstart business
profiteering
managers forever

It’s A Crime To Sleep When You’re Homeless

sleeping on the streets
is a criminal behaviour
no nodding off
or the plod will carry you off
and slap you with a fine
for napping

busking is permitted
just don’t let those lids
shut for a minute
or you’ll be in the shit
snoozing is prohibited
limited by law

even if you’re sober
don’t let that head loll over
or they’re onto you
so what if you are down and out
as long as we can’t see it
out in town

when you hit rock bottom
and your bottom’s on a rock
use matchstick props
till nine o’ clock
so you’re not locked up
in the slammer

A Resignation Letter From Mr Johnson

Up is down, black is white,
left is right.
That might explain why
the left hand doesn’t know
what the right hand is doing.
It wasn’t me, they did it:
the naughty EU.
I’m telling the truth,
when I tell you preposterous lies,
so audacious they must be believed.
I’ll hit you then blame you
for hitting yourself.
Don’t you know? Up is down,
out is in, black is white,
Lies are truth, wrong is right.
By gaslight.

Bikini Dilemma

Can a real woman after fifty
wear a bikini? Well let me see
now, is she real and does she have one?
Can she get it on?
(The bikini I mean, steady on!
Although, you know,
we’re not quite past it yet.)

Dare she wear? Dare she bare?
Dare she share her real self?
Or should she now sit on the shelf
with saggy tits and scary bits?
Although, I have to say,
The men don’t put it all away.

Get real, be free,
and if you want to go for it,
defiant in your glory,
age comes to us all, so what,
acknowledge your true beauty,
And, just damn well wear your bikini.

Dear Ms Greer

Dear Ms Greer,
I hear you say
no one was ever killed by a penis.
Are we making too much fuss?
If all that died was trust,
all that died was lust,
all that died was self-respect,
all that died was feeling safe
in the arms of a man.

Dear Ms Greer,
Are we making too much fuss?
If all that died was love,
all that died was a marriage,
all that died was being open to touch,
all that died was the freedom
to have the most beautiful experience in life,
untainted.

So, dear Ms Greer,
All that died.
And what survives, locked inside?
Life sentence PTSD, anxiety,
pill-popping to hold in
the swirling, sickening, shameful, screaming,
churning, raging horror.

But dear Ms Greer,
I hear you say,
they can’t do violence with a penis.
