MH17

A tired angel followed me to bed, wings like sheets across a target range
crowed on about addictive texts, undisputed fonts and typesets
gathered its treaty written wings in utopian eves before rising up
and into dream where the angel covered with it's wings, the dead.
The harvest that day was burnt and spread with toys, the angel said,
"Where have guns led but here, to fields of broken ears?" I picked a pillow
from a burning seat, once a plane above a field of wheat, a knife through sky
now ghost, now language disappeared, a whisp of air the wind will keep
An angel's goodnight kiss, and hard fought/hard to resist
the whole world left on earth to wish upon a star, a home
where angels sing their lullabies and close our tired eyes.
And only starlight lights the way between its whispered notes
in tune with time, running before our wants and needs, pushing
buttons where no middle ground consoles our inbetweens

'Can you tell what it is yet?'

The radio played Elgar while we talked Public Image
our musical godheads becoming Sex Pistoled reality
gone are the days when groupies trolled the stage door
and gossamer legs were stuffed with cucumber,
now the old kangaroo's tied down in court - not that he rocked
exactly, more rolled in teen hay with famous immunity
and painted the Queen (I bet she's put that God awful portrait
on ebay by now - wouldn't want that hanging over the changing
of the guard now would we?) What a delicate issue!
Even the "art" gallery in the mall has quietly removed his prints
- helped pay the legal fees I expect. Got me thinking though,
with looming prison and a referendum on the way,
are we about to leave Europe the way we left the World Cup?
And what if they do a background check before inviting us back in?

Poll Position

Other people seem to have followed me in here,
it must be the odd job notice - I put myself down
for anything these days.
MEP? Me? Well, sure!
As long as I don't have to vote or anything.
Future King? Hell, yeah! The odd gaff about dictators
and lording it over all of Cornwall notwithstanding.
I could have a go at sorting out the schools,
cops, unemployment - that isn't working, I get that -
and foreign policy, something I understand
we don't "do" here... Hey, tell you what,
give me your name and postcode, and I''ll drop by with a free quote.
We can discuss how everything is getting worse
alongside the "no politicians" sign on your letterbox.
