Drive-by Poems

You think you are safe
inside your own house, but
suddenly, the news

strikes through the walls,

strikes, and leaves you

bleeding words.

Yellow Alert

Yellow vests now

march in the streets of Paris,

protest gas taxes—

metropolitan elites

thrive in globalisation,

but feast on the poor,

feast on farmers and workers,

leave them only cake.

Now chants and signs, shouts and fires,

smoke and sirens, flashing lights

surround the Arc de Triomphe.
