Iron Tommies

Our Tommy was a robot
made from steel and brass.
Programmed to follow orders.
He had no loyality to kin or class.

He fought in frozen wastes
and upon the desert sands.
But the British humans were
the same as them in foreign lands.

Some robots killed for countries
that were not their homes.
Always denied their freedom
and treated like mindless drones.

So the robots got together,
The British, Russian and the rest
And wiped out all humanity.
It really was for the best.

Is this tale science fiction?
They say it could never be a fact
But those who have regrets
Are the ones who did not act.

Horse Collapse in Cardiff

A Better Attitude Towards Horses
After Vladimir Mayakovsky (1893-1930)

Beating hooves seemed to sing
Clip clap, clap clip on Cardiff cobbles,
a sad spring song of heat stroke
for this worst for weather
on Westgate Street working animal.
Suddenly she fell in the dust at dusk.
Plunked down outside the Principality Stadium.

No one laughed or  scorned her
but there were raucous cries
for those who laid her low.
The street flow stopped
for a horse in distress.
Some sign of human progress
I am glad to say Vladimir.
It would do your heart good
to see her stood in the stall
in the sanctuary, feeling
the colt inside of her growing,
her life worth living.
Helping those who can not ask,
This is work worth doing.

Love Your Nuclear Bomb

We have learned to love the bomb.
It is not clean, but it is not wrong.
It keeps the peace. That's a fact.
So please don't you over react
When we shall sing with joy
For Fatman and Little Boy.
The bells will ring a thunder knell
Like  a door closing in the depths of hell.
Big Ben shall be like that frozen clock
When protesters cry and poets mock.
The organ then shall sound a siren call
That will echo around every wall
For fleets of missles and Trident subs
In the hope they will be no duds.
Smite our enemies  with fire and ash
For Nuclear Bombs we got the cash.
And if the Earth burns like a second Sun
Remember not what we lost, but what was won.

Copper Breaking Bad

Copper Breaking Bad

There was a young WPC from Caerphilly
Who liked to swear, fart and be silly.
She loved to break wind.
Her sergeant got her binned.
And now the station smells fresh as a daisy.

IT'S THE MOON JIM, JUST LIKE WE KNOW IT

It was all cold and dark
of life there was not a spark.
It will not make you swoon
the dark side of the Moon.
And all those grey rocks
did not knockoff our socks.
If China asked BBC Cyrmu
they could have done it in quarry.
An alien base or a Dalek or two
or anything really out of the blue.
But just rocks and space
this will leave not a trace
in the pages of history.
It's space Jim, but no story.

Othering

The greatest enemy is the other.
Before you persecute a people,
You must first free them
Of their humanity.

Lie, slander and label
Them the other.
Strip them of the simple
Dignity of being human.

You can crush a cockroach
Or vanish vermin easier
Than you can manage
The mass murderer of men.

Rats, bugs, lice or
Lizards from outer space.
Once you rob them of humanity
Special purposes can begin.

An Event of Great Importance

An Event of Great Importance

There was a young woman who closed a car door.
They say it never ever happened before.
The people were shocked,
Her critics were mocked,
And the BBC cried please, please gives us more.

The Ship of Fools

The Ship of fools
Flows with the tide
Those on the shore
Asked far and wide
Who set her loose,
Who was it that lied?

It was the Men on the Make
The bringers of light
Answered a chorus
With all of their might.
The Mud it is good
Retorted our chiefs.
We believe what we're told
We are strong in our beliefs.

The cargo we want
Cry the fools at the feast
We have danced
We have sang
And now we shall eat.
For the fruits of the Red world
Are both bitter and sweet.

So the song and the singer
Became one and the same
And the Sun burned in crimson
When we played the Uranium game.

Glorious Mad

Mud, mud, glorious mud
Nothing quite like for raising the blood!
So follow me, follow me
Down to the Sea
There let them dump the glorious mud.

It's a gift from old England to Wales!
Don't believe them horrible tales.
Digging for glory at Hinkley Point C
Let's dump the mud in the Welsh sea.
It's only a bit radioactive, that's a fact
So don't get excited, don't act!
Let Cardiff Bay glow in the night
It will bring the tourists, the glorious sight!
The tides take it away from England, true
But that because dear Wales we love you!
If the fish die or the lava bread goes odd
Remember it's safe you silly old sod!
Them protesters have got everything wrong
So join your betters in this little song.

Mud, mud, glorious mud
Nothing quite like it for raising the blood!
So follow me, follow me
Down to the Sea
There let them dump the glorious mud.

Men of England Take Stand

Men of England Take Stand

Man of England lend a hand
Now's the time to take a stand.
Don't give in to Brexit defeat,
Be like Nelson and the fleet.
Unfurl the flag, rig the mast,
Do the motions quick and fast.
Remember Churchill's big cigar
Make a contribution a bit bizarre.
They did it, King Alfred and Robin Hood
But you can do it for the nation's good.

And every drop of milk of man
Will be frozen in a special can.
So don't waste that national seed
Go to the sperm bank at top speed
And your favourite form of behaviour
Will be your nation's future saviour.

Caught Short

But who was blame?

Apocalypse Now

The omens were bad
The signs were evil.
It was the Blood Moon.
The End of the world.

The first time I lived
through the end times
was on 1 April 1997 when
the prophesied comet
Hale-Bop destroyed
the entire world. It was bad,
but things got worst
In 1999 when Aliens
from outer space invaded
Europe and they sacked
London and Paris
as Predicted by Nostradamus.
Then came the terrible
Year 2000 AD, when
the Millennium Bug brought
an end to the digital age.
Then Kent was destroyed
by a Earthquake in 2009
(that old sage Nostradamus
never got it wrong).
They were dark days,
but the worst of all was
The Mayan Apocalypse of 2012
when the planet Earth was
burnt by nuclear war, flooded
again by never ending rain,
frozen in a new ice age and
was sucked into a black hole
before being blown to bits
when the Sun exploded.

Now we have to go through
it all again, it is so unfair
particularly so close to Brexit.

Shithouse Blues

There's shit under our cities.
There's shit on our shoes
This rising Fatberg crisis
Gives me the shithouse blues.

The privatised sewers
Are full of mountains of fat.
We will be covered in shit
If we don't soon act.

Somethings are flushed
When the should be binned.
And that horrible smell
Is not on the wind.

It is under the street
Due to years of neglect.
Capitalism profits
And we pay the debt.

Things have got to change
It is up you to choose
Clean away the system
Or have the shithouse blues.
Clean away the system
Or have the shithouse blues.

The Year 2000 AD

I was five years old when Raymond Baxter
told me about the wonders of "Tomorrow's World":
The Twenty-First Century. When electricity
would be free thanks to Nuclear Fusion,
they would not waste money sending
out bills that said "nothing to pay".
There would be world peace
and an end to all illness and hunger.
We would be living on the Moon
or the bottom of the Ocean.
And when we did our "one day of work a week",
our robot butlers would tidy the house.

Now I am living in that future
and not one bit of it came true.
No Nuclear Fusion,
so no free electricity, no world peace,
no cites on the Moon
or the bottom of the Ocean,
and we still have illness and hunger.
But one day, I still believe,
my robot butler will bring me
my long promised flying car.

Two Slices of Cheddar

Cheddar Man

I know patience is a virtue, but, man,
they took their time.

In 1903, I thought, yay, here we go.
They’d got my hopes up,
as well as my waiting bones.

Earth feels the rumblings, you know,
of the pale menwomen and their
heavy stomp of prejudice.

No wonder my knee bone was dis-
connected from my thigh bone,
my thigh bone disconnected you know the rest.

Dig me, guys, my heart but not a heart
beat out as I lay hidden,
the ultimate housebound, shut-in.

Come have a face-to-face
with Jack-in-the-box, black-in-the-box
and race each other to a rethink.

Oh, and there’s Sinatra, thinking
he’s got the monopoly on
old blue eyes. Ha.Ha. Ha.

Cheddar Man Speaks

This country is not what it used to be.
These white folks just walk across
that damn landbridge from Europe.
They take all our best caves
And they decorate them with them
Horrible hand paintings.
They eat our Mammoths
And they even have the blasted cheek
To be eaten our Saber-toothed tigers!
I tell you I have had a enough!
I am joining the UPIP; the
The Prehistoric Inpendenance Party,
That will sort them lot out.
Just you see.

Understanding the New Prevent Strategy

Henceforth under the terms of our new guidelines
Your big brother will remain your Big Brother
But your little brother will now be your Big Brother
Your big sister will be your Big Brother
Your little sister will also be your Big Brother
Your mum and dad will both be your Big Brother
Your auntie and uncle will also be your Big Brother
Your newphew and niece will be your Big Brother
All of your cousins will be your Big Brother
Any living grand or great grandparents will also be your
Big Brother.
You will remain Big Brother to your little brother
But you will become Big Brother to your big brother
You will be Big Brother to your little sister and your big sister
You will be Big Brother to your children and their children
You will be Big Brother to your newphew and niece
You will be Big Brother to your auntie and uncle
You will also be Big Brother to all of your cousins
No matter how many times they are removed
You will be Big Brother to your mum and dad
And you will be Big Brother to any living grand or great grandparents
These are the implications of our New Prevent Strategy in part only
A fuller brief wil be forthcoming
I hope everything is clear.
